Vintage Mum

As we've just had Mothers Day here in the UK I couldn't resist sharing this photo of my Mum taken during WW2 when she was a military nurse.

My son's been restoring a few more vintage family photos...

My dear departed Auntie Madeleine...she looks as cute as a little doll doesn't she?!

Top right, my grandfather (Mums Dad) in WW1. Love the informality of the photo!

Much more formal - Grandparents (Mums parents)

These last two I'd never seen until recently. My grandparents died when I was very young I have no memory of them so it's lovely to have these photos as a link to my past. Sadly I don't have photos from my Scottish Fathers side.

  6. Can you imagine what it would have been like to have been a nurse during WW II? What stories your mother must have had. You son does wonderful work. BWT, our spring trip to the UK has been postponed until August--we hope. I have new granddaughter due in June an hate leaving so close to her arrival; and my traveling partner has complications. August, we hope.

    1. Hi Ann. Mum has lots of WW2 stories. I remember her story of being on one of the bridges over the Thames during an air raid and refusing the wardens instructions to lie down as she didn't want to damage a precious pair of nylon stockings!
