American retro

I'm back! Jetlagged but inspired after a wonderful trip to the east coast of America. More on my adventures in further posts - but  for now how about some eye popping, colourful vintage and retro beautifully displayed that I spotted in New Jersey and Cape Cod? I wanted it all but alas could not squeeze it into my suitcase!

Make yourself a cup of tea, put your feet up and feast your eyes on some US vintage gorgeousness (don't forget to click on the photo for a larger version). Love, love, love ...

Are you swooning yet? Here's some more...

OK. So if you could choose just one thing what would you pick?

Holiday USA

I'm off to NY this Sunday for my US big birthday trip and I'll be reporting back on my adventures next month.

I'm going to be spending some time here...

Pretty Ocean Grove NJ

A side trip to the town of Lambertville and its many vintage shops is planned, like this...

And this...

I'm going to need a bigger suitcase!

And then it's on to NY city where were are staying in this Tribecca loft (ooh get you)!

Nice huh?

While we're there (my son and me) we'll be taking in a couple of shows by this fella...

Oh how do I love Bruce - let me count the ways!

And finally a few days, to rest and recover (and some vintage shopping of course), here...

Cape Cod

It's going to be fab and I'll tell you all about it on my return xxx

Wonderful Winchelsea

Just outside Rye on the East Sussex coast is the village of Winchelsea. I always call in here when I'm visiting Rye. It's about as cute and chocolate boxy as it gets. Centuries ago this was a bustling town of sea traders...but then the tide went out, and out, and Winchelsea became land locked. Today what remains is a quiet little village sitting on a hill overlooking the sea. It seems like it's set in aspic, unchanged for decades, and it's only the grandeur of some of the houses that give clues to it's ancient past.

You still drive in to the village through the old castle archway, Strand Gate, today.

The high street were the post office stands today has hardly changed over 100 years (top right in the photo below)

Then...

And now...

This was the Castle armoury ... now a beautiful home

Houses rarely come on the market in Winchelsea but there's a couple of beauties at the moment (all sadly well out of my reach but it's great to dream!) Do you have a favourite?
